We bring different perspectives to the table, but we’re united by a love for purposeful work, thoughtful design, and real connection.

Our team

Louise Day

Founder and Director

Playwright and Producer and occasional Actor born in Edmonton, Alberta in 1950. An award winning playwright,  Day has co-written 2 plays and written 4 independently since 2018. All of these plays,  she has self-produced locally at  a variety of Calgary venues such as Engineered Air Studio, Pumphouse Theatre, Vertigo Studio and Cspace. Her latest play 'BINS' is scheduled to be produced at Contemporary Calgary August 25-30, 2026 .

Day’s plays exhibit a strong social conscience focusing on the issues current for todays' seniors. The plays are designed to spark badly needed conversation about what’s happening in the seniors' world. . All plays have strong senior protagonists with the underlying messages that senior stereotyping has to change.

She lives in Calgary with her partner Gary Bodeux to allow close proximity to her three awesome grand children

Chris Heatherington

Director

A woefully-underemployed professional copywriter ( yes, I'm looking for a job.), Chris has spent decades creating and crafting messages for communications organizations and agencies. After graduating from Art School back in the Stone Age (aka the 1970s), Chris learned the craft of creating compelling and persuasive prose under the guidance and mentorship of some of Canada's most renowned Ad writers and Creative Directors. The 'creative revolution' in marketing, pioneered by the likes of David Ogilvy and Bill Bernbach owed much to the Western tradition of 'storytelling', and the recognition that what connects us all is our shared humanity and the common need for love, acceptance, family and community.

Our stories and shared experiences are what define us and draw us together, whether they be a 30 second commercial or a two-hour stage play. At the very core of Seniors Acting Lab Society's mission is that which inextricably links us all; the Human heartbeat.

Anne Mulders

Director

Anne joined the Seniors Acting Lab Society as a board member in 2023. Since then, she has has taken on the role of Secretary and acted in Pernicious Arrangement, Bill C773 and in a film Signage all written by Louise Day. As in all Seniors Acting Lab Productions, they were based on current issues that seniors face and were truly a meaningful experience.

Anne is a retired teacher of 40 wonderful years! Since then, she has been able to focus more on her love of acting on stage, in film and in Interactive Murder Mystery Theatre which she has been involved in since 1993.

Her most recent endeavor is “Maudie” a delightful, funny, sincere character she created for her one woman show.

Her husband John and her family support her love for theatre and creating. They know that acting is her happy place!

Gary Bodeux

Gary has happily spent his retirement years volunteering for Calgary’s YMCA Member Services Department and helping out as a Front of House Manager as both an employee and a volunteer. He has been there to greet and seat SAL Patrons since its inception in 2019.

He has also Volunteered for Vertigo Theatre as an usher and was

Employed part time for years as a Head Usher for the Taylor Centre for the Performing Arts.
